The hadith Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Some Jews came to the Messenger of Allah (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon Him) asking him what thunder is.” He replied: “He is an angel among angels. He is responsible for the clouds; he has with him sabers made of fire with which he directs the cloud where Allah wants it. » They said: “What about the sound that is heard? » He replied: “It is the cry of the cloud. He directs them where He is commanded. » Then they said: “You have spoken the truth. » [Reported by Imam Ahmed, At-Tirmidhy and authenticated by Sheikh Al-Albani in As-Sahiha.]
